Our commitment
Vellum Ritual House Inc. is a Small Organization under the AODA, with locations in Toronto at 100 Ossington Avenue and 5075 Yonge Street. We design our services, spaces, and website with the intent that they are usable by people with a wide range of disabilities — including mobility, hearing, visual, cognitive, neurological, and sensory disabilities.
Our goal is to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA for all public-facing digital content, and to provide physical accommodations that allow every guest to enjoy our rituals with dignity.
Physical accessibility
Both Vellum locations include:
- A step-free main entrance with a power-assist door and level threshold.
- An accessible washroom with a grab bar, lowered counter, and lever faucet.
- A pool-lift at the cold plunge, available on request, that meets CSA B651-18 standards.
- Wide corridors (minimum 1,200 mm) and 90-degree turning radius at major transitions.
- Adjustable-height bodywork tables.
- High-visibility wayfinding in parchment-on-cocoa with 4.5:1 contrast or better.
- Hearing induction loops at the reception counter at both locations.
- Service animals are welcome throughout the facility, except inside wet zones for health and safety reasons.
- A designated quiet room near the tea lounge for guests who need a low-stimulus space.
If you have specific accessibility needs, email access@vellumritual.com at least 24 hours before your visit and a staff lead will prepare the space.
Digital accessibility
vellumritual.com is designed to follow WCAG 2.2 Level AA guidance, including:
- Semantic HTML, meaningful headings, and landmark regions.
- Visible keyboard focus styles on all interactive elements.
- Minimum 4.5:1 colour contrast for body text, 3:1 for large text.
- Descriptive alt text on all content images.
- Form labels explicitly associated with inputs, and inline error messages tied to the fields they describe.
- A
prefers-reduced-motionfallback that disables scroll-triggered animations, page transitions, and background drift for users who have opted out of motion. - ARIA roles on dialogs and accordion components.
- Skip-to-content link on every page for keyboard users.
- Support for browser text scaling up to 200% without loss of content or function.
We test with axe DevTools on every deploy and conduct a manual screen-reader pass using VoiceOver (macOS/iOS) and NVDA (Windows) each quarter.
Training
All Vellum employees and contractors receive training on Ontario’s accessibility laws and the Ontario Human Rights Code as it applies to people with disabilities, at hire and annually thereafter. Records of completion are kept for three years.

Multi-year accessibility plan (2025–2028)
Vellum’s current plan focuses on four commitments:
- Facilities. By Q3 2026, install variable-height change benches and a second pool lift at the Queen West location.
- Digital. By Q4 2026, publish an ARIA-annotated booking flow and provide captions for every piece of video content used in marketing.
- Programming. By Q1 2027, pilot a monthly low-sensory evening in partnership with Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital’s adult advisory group.
- Reporting. File our AODA Compliance Report on or before every reporting deadline (next: December 31, 2026).
The full plan is available in large print or plain-language summary on request.
