The terms of
the house.

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) form a binding legal agreement between you and Vellum Ritual House Inc. (“Vellum”), a corporation incorporated under the Ontario Business Corporations Act with its registered office at 100 Ossington Avenue, Toronto, Ontario M6J 2Z4. By booking a session, purchasing a membership, entering our premises, or using vellumritual.com (together, the “Services”), you confirm you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree, please do not use the Services. We may update these Terms from time to time; the most recent version is always posted at this URL. Your continued use after we publish changes constitutes acceptance.

Sauna, cold plunge, red light, and compression services are restricted to guests aged 18 years or older at the time of service. Bodywork and tea lounge access may be booked for guests aged 16–17 only with a parent or legal guardian present and a signed minor’s consent form.

You represent that all information you provide is accurate and that you are legally able to enter a contract in the Province of Ontario.

Single sessions and ritual packages are booked online or by phone. A valid credit card is required to hold a reservation; your card is charged in full at the time of booking unless otherwise stated.

• Cancellations made more than 12 hours before your session are refunded in full to the original payment method.
• Cancellations made between 4 and 12 hours before your session receive a 50% credit to your Vellum account.
• Cancellations made less than 4 hours before your session, and no-shows, are non-refundable.
• Late arrivals of more than 15 minutes may result in a shortened or cancelled session at staff discretion, without refund.

The Free Intro Ritual is reserved for first-time guests and cannot be rebooked, resold, or gifted. No-shows for a Free Intro Ritual may be subject to a $25 CAD rebooking fee.

Memberships are sold as monthly subscriptions payable in Canadian dollars plus applicable HST. By joining, you authorize Vellum to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly basis until you cancel.

• Billing. The first charge occurs the day you join. Subsequent charges recur on the same calendar day each month (or the last day of a shorter month).
• Cancellation. You may cancel any time with at least 30 days’ notice. You retain access to member benefits until the end of the current billing cycle.
• Freeze. Members in good standing may freeze their membership for up to 2 months per calendar year at no cost. Freezes must be requested at least 7 days before the next billing date.
• Upgrades and downgrades. Tier changes take effect on your next billing date. We do not prorate partial months.
• Guest passes. Guest passes expire at the end of each billing period and are non-transferable.
• Unused sessions. Session credits (for tiered memberships with caps) do not roll over.
• Failed payments. If a payment fails, we will retry up to three times over seven days and suspend your access to member benefits after the third failure. We may terminate the membership if payment is not received within 30 days.

Vellum gift cards are sold in Canadian dollars and are governed by Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act, 2002. They do not expire, can be redeemed at either location for any service, and are non-refundable once purchased. Lost or stolen gift cards cannot be replaced unless they are registered to a member account.

To keep Vellum a quiet, safe, and respectful space, every guest agrees to:

• Shower before entering any pool, plunge, or sauna.
• Wear provided sandals between wet and dry zones.
• Silence phones and keep conversation low in all ritual rooms.
• Respect the privacy and bodies of other guests. No photography or video anywhere in the facility other than the tea lounge, where staff consent is required.
• Refrain from using any substance, including alcohol and recreational drugs, while in the facility.
• Disclose relevant health conditions honestly at intake.
• Follow staff instructions at all times, especially during heat, cold, and red light sessions.

We reserve the right to refuse service, end a session early without refund, or ban a guest permanently for behaviour that compromises the safety, comfort, or dignity of staff or other guests.

The Services provided at Vellum (including sauna, cold plunge, red light exposure, bodywork, compression, breathwork, and sound immersion) carry inherent physical risks, including but not limited to dehydration, fainting, heart-rate elevation, muscle soreness, skin sensitivity, and slips on wet surfaces.

By signing a digital intake at booking, you confirm that you:

• Have read the Safety page at vellumritual.com/safety.
• Have disclosed any medical conditions that could affect your safety.
• Are not attending while pregnant, within 48 hours of alcohol consumption, or while taking photosensitizing medication, unless cleared by your physician.
• Assume the risks associated with voluntary use of our facilities.
• To the fullest extent permitted by law, release and hold harmless Vellum, its directors, employees, contractors, and agents from any claim, loss, or damage arising out of your voluntary use of the Services — except for claims that result from gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or breach of non-excludable consumer-protection rights under Ontario law.

Nothing in these Terms limits a right or remedy that cannot lawfully be limited under the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 (Ontario) or the Sale of Goods Act.

Vellum is a wellness environment. Nothing at Vellum is intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Bodywork at Vellum is a luxury wellness service and is not registered massage therapy. Vellum does not provide insurance receipts, Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) services, or medical records.

Consult a licensed healthcare professional for any medical concerns or before beginning any recovery program, particularly if you are pregnant, managing a cardiovascular condition, or recovering from surgery.

Each guest is assigned a locker for the duration of a session. Lockers are provided as a convenience. Vellum is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal items unless caused by our gross negligence. We recommend leaving valuables at home.

Items left at our facilities for more than 30 days may be donated to a registered Toronto charity.

The Vellum name, the wordmark, the “Come in charged. Leave quiet.” tagline, and all photographs, copy, and interface elements on vellumritual.com are the intellectual property of Vellum Ritual House Inc. or its licensors. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our prior written consent, except for personal, non-commercial sharing of our Instagram content with proper attribution.

When using vellumritual.com, you agree not to:

• Use the site for any unlawful purpose.
• Attempt to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the site.
• Interfere with the proper working of the site.
• Use automated means (scrapers, bots) to access the site without our written permission.
• Post false, misleading, or defamatory reviews or contact submissions.

Our site may link to third-party websites (such as Google Maps, citation DOIs, or social platforms). We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content or practices. You access them at your own risk.

Except for warranties that cannot be excluded under applicable Ontario consumer protection law, the Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” We make no warranty that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or meet your expectations.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Vellum’s total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the Services, for any reason, shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount paid by you to Vellum in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred Canadian dollars (CA$100).

In no event shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, goodwill, or income.

You agree to indemnify and hold Vellum harmless from any claim, demand, or damage (including reasonable legal fees) made by any third party arising out of your breach of these Terms, your violation of any law, or your infringement of any right of a third party.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Before initiating formal legal action, you agree to attempt to resolve the dispute informally by emailing legal@vellumritual.com. If the dispute is not resolved within 60 days, either party may proceed to mediation in Toronto, Ontario, or, failing mediation, to the Superior Court of Justice of Ontario or the Ontario Small Claims Court (for matters up to $35,000). Nothing in this clause prevents either party from seeking urgent injunctive relief.

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any signed intake or waiver, form the entire agreement between you and Vellum.
